Shanghai Songjiang Vibration Absorber Group Co., Ltd. won the bid for the BMW Tiexi Factory Project in 2013. The project used a batch of stainless steel flanged rubber expansion bellows products produced by Shanghai Songjiang, mainly used in the spray pipeline system. Songjiang Group specializes in providing high-end rubber expansion bellows products for automotive factories.

Project Name: Phase III Expansion Project of Huachen BMW Automobile Co., Ltd. Tiexi Factory.
Construction Location: Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.
Construction Unit: Huachen BMW Automobile Co., Ltd.
Overview of Construction Project: Within the original scope of land acquisition for the first and second phase projects, expand stamping, welding, painting, assembly, engine, and logistics workshops. Other workshops mainly rely on the first and second phase projects. The annual production capacity of small passenger cars is expanded to 200,000 units, and the total production capacity of the plant is expanded to 400,000 units/year. The engine production workshop continues to lease the existing plant of Zhongchuang International Logistics Group Shenyang Co., Ltd., and the engine capacity is correspondingly expanded to 400,000 units/year. The total investment of the project is 8.8 billion yuan, of which environmental protection investment is 70.3 million yuan, accounting for 0.80% of the total investment.
Huachen BMW Tiexi Factory is located in Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Liaoning Province, covering an area of 2.07 square kilometers. It is the production site of domestically produced BMW X1 and 3 series. It is the 25th factory of the BMW Group worldwide and the newest factory. The total investment of the Tiexi Factory is as high as 1.5 billion euros, and it operates in stages according to a unified plan. The design annual production capacity of the first phase project is 100,000 units, which can reach 200,000 by the end of 2013. According to the world-class factory planning, the factory will have complete four major processes of automobile manufacturing, namely stamping, welding, painting, and assembly. Due to time constraints, this time, the editor had the honor to visit the body workshop, assembly workshop, and parts supply center here. In addition, we will also go to the BMW engine factory 11 kilometers away. Well, without further ado, let’s get down to business.
III. Main Environmental Impact of the BMW Tiexi Factory Project and Measures to Prevent or Alleviate Adverse Environmental Impacts: (The BMW Tiexi Factory Project Adopts Shanghai Songjiang Rubber Bellows)
Exhaust Gas: Welding fume is treated by various welding fume collection and purification devices; paint mist and organic exhaust gases generated in the paint room and clear coat room are discharged through a pipeline with a 40-meter high exhaust stack after being treated by a lime powder dry filtration system + KPR activated carbon rotary system; the exhaust gas from the sealant drying furnace is directly burned by natural gas, and the exhaust gases from electrophoresis, glue spraying drying, paint, and clear coat drying are discharged after treatment by direct combustion method; exhaust gases from paint repair stations are discharged through exhaust vents after paint mist is adsorbed by filter cotton.
Wastewater: The wastewater treatment station of the painting workshop adopts coagulation air flotation + sand filtration two-stage physical and chemical treatment. Wastewater containing nickel (Class I pollutant) in the workshop is treated to remove phosphates, total nickel, total zinc, and fluorides from the wastewater through coagulation and precipitation to ensure that the total nickel at the workshop outlet meets the requirements of Table 1 “Maximum Emission Concentration of Class I Pollutants” in the “Comprehensive Wastewater Discharge Standard” (GB8978-1996). Domestic sewage and paint workshop wastewater enter the comprehensive wastewater treatment station and the discharged water quality meets the requirements of Table 2 standards in “Liaoning Province Comprehensive Wastewater Discharge Standard” (DB21/1627-2008), and then enters Shenyang West Sewage Treatment Plant through the sewage pipe network of the development zone for further treatment before finally being discharged into Xie River. Domestic sewage from the engine workshop is discharged into the West City Sewage Treatment Plant.
Solid Waste: Stamping waste, packaging materials, and other solid wastes are comprehensively utilized for export. Hazardous wastes are collected and disposed of by units with hazardous waste disposal qualifications.
Noise: Low-noise equipment is used, and vibration reduction and noise reduction measures are implemented. The predicted results of noise at the boundary of the site and workshop meet the requirements of noise emission standards.
Groundwater: The plant adopts zonal anti-seepage measures, and key prevention and control areas such as oil depots, sewage treatment stations, painting workshops, chemical storage warehouses, hazardous waste temporary storage warehouses, and accident pools adopt strict anticorrosion and anti-seepage measures.
Opinions of Relevant Departments: The General Office of the People’s Government of Shenyang Municipality approved the “Notice of the General Office of the People’s Government of Shenyang Municipality on Printing and Distributing the Plan for the Continuous and Stable Improvement of Xie River in Shenyang”, and the Development and Reform Commission of Shenyang Municipality approved the “Reply on the Proposal for the Expansion Project of Shenyang West Sewage Treatment Plant.
