The waste – heat utilization and energy – supply project of the data center of Jingjin Gaocun Qingshu Science Park (hereinafter referred to as “Qingshu Science Park”) invested and constructed by State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service Co., Ltd. has commenced construction. It is estimated that after the project is completed, it can save approximately 1.09 million kWh of energy consumption for the data center each year.
Qingshu Science Park is located in Gaocun Science and Technology Innovation Park, which lies between Beijing and Tianjin. It is an important part of the Beijing – Tianjin – Hebei Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone, attracting more than 10 big – data – related enterprises such as China Telecom, Global Switch, China Railway, and Huawei to settle in. The project under construction will build an energy station with an area of approximately 800 square meters in Qingshu Science Park. “The energy station mainly collects the waste heat generated by the data center, supplemented by air – source heat pump and electric refrigeration unit technologies. By applying magnetic – levitation heat – pump technology and a configured intelligent energy management system, it realizes the efficient and optimized matching operation of equipment such as mainframes, water pumps, and cooling towers in the data center. After the project is put into operation, it can provide winter heating, summer cooling, and domestic hot water supply to the buildings within Qingshu Science Park with an area of over 100,000 square meters, thus reducing energy costs by approximately 1 million yuan and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1,659 tons,” said Yang Yanchun, the deputy manager of the Market Operation Department of State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service Co., Ltd.
In the early stage of the project construction, State Grid Tianjin Wuqing Company actively carried out visiting services to the park, publicized knowledge about energy conservation and consumption reduction, and learned that Qingshu Science Park had demands for cooling and heating, while there was a large amount of waste heat to be utilized in the surrounding data centers, with great potential for recovery and conversion. In response to the park’s energy – use demands, State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service Co., Ltd. conducted on – site surveys and technical analyses, and carefully formulated a comprehensive energy – saving renovation plan. This project construction applies innovative technologies such as multi – level active and passive system protection, with high construction process requirements and a tight schedule. To ensure the high – quality and on – time operation of the project, State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service Co., Ltd. reversed the construction schedule and strictly controlled key links such as plan confirmation, drawing review, and safety supervision to ensure the orderly progress of the project according to the nodes.
At present, more and more data center projects are settling in Tianjin.
